Foundational Word Problems
Discovery Word Problems is intended for students in grade 4 and above that need more practice with word problems. Though the problems are based on grade 4 math, students in later grades (4-7) who struggle with word problems will also benefit from this review. Topics include:
- Writing expressions for word problems
- Using bar models
- Geometry word problems
- Fraction word problems
- Time, money & measurement word problems
- Word problem strategies
Each section of the workbook begins with a bite-sized introduction with an example, followed by practice exercises. Most word problems have more than one step. Students are encouraged to write down their calculations and make drawings or sketches of the situation as needed.
