Math Workbook: The Four Operations (Grades 5-6)

The Four Operations (with a Touch of Algebra) is a grade 5/6 level math workbook covering topics related to the four operations.  The intent is not to practice each of the four operations separately, but rather to see how they are used together in solving problems and in simple equations. 

Some of the topics included are:

• review of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division;
• balance problems and equations;
• the order of operations;
• multiplying in parts;
• long division;
• expressions that involve a variable;
• mental math;
• coordinate grids & linear functions.

The workbook is divided into 16 sections. Each section begins with a bite-sized introduction to a topic with an example, followed by practice exercises including word problems.
